1. Services & Pricing
All services & pricing stated on this website are subject to change at any time, and it is your responsibility to frequently check for updated pricing.
2. Agreement terms
Before each job starts there’s a written agreement to be signed between the two parties: Contractor (me) and Client (you). You will be sent a copy to read and sign along with the quote. A signed copy of the agreement is due to secure your spot in my schedule.
3. Payment policy
A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the fee is due to book a spot in my schedule. The remaining balance of the fee is due before the reception of the final deliverables, or on the date of the estimated delivery at the latest.
If an invoice falls due during a weekend or holiday, the payment transaction is executed on the following business day.
Any additional revisions or elements not included in the initial estimate will be added to the final invoice.
Late payment policy:
Payments are due 15 days upon receipt. If a payment has not been made by the 15th day, a non-compounding late fee of 2.0% accrues monthly on the outstanding amount.
Cancelation policy:
If the project is cancelled before completion, by either of us, it should be done in writing, and payment for all work completed at that point will be due.
4. Feedback guidelines
The manuscript should be reviewed by an editor prior to it being formatted.
The only revisions we will be doing at this stage are correcting small errors and inconsistencies in the text—this is the last opportunity to catch typos you and your editor(s) missed.
For this reason, only one round of revisions is included during our work together—it occurs after I typeset the entire book. It is intended for correcting errors in a “proof” version of a book in its final form. This review will be done by you and/or a proofreader on a PDF file (instructions on how to do this are provided).
After receiving the final files, you are still entitled to revisions; however, these include corrections up to 10 small amends per 100 pages. Any substantial changes to the book will require a new quote.
Preferred method to provide feedback is by marking a PDF with comments (instructions will be provided to you). This is the method I learned when working in-house in publishing, and it has been proven to be effective and error free. It allows me to quickly identify what changes need to be made on which sections of the book, and then proof both PDFs side by side to make sure I implemented all changes correctly.
5. Timeline
The number of days are calculated based on metrics that help foresee risks and assess productivity + quality of work, allowing me to be able to handle different projects at the same time.
If you wish to reduce that time, in order for me to prioritize your book, a rush rate will be applied to the quote. This option is dependent on my availability.
6. Quality control
Unless noted otherwise, all projects include a round of QC for the overall look of the book. Please note that proofreading of the text is not included.
If you wish for a proofreader to be included in the process, additional charges will be applied, and changes to the timeline will be made.
7. Software, fonts and deliverables
I use Adobe InDesign to format books, this provides access to a catalog with many fonts that are licensed for embedding in PDFs and can be used in printed books. If you require the use of specific fonts (to which I don’t have access through Adobe), you will need to buy the font files along with their license.
For eBooks, I also use InDesign to build the structure of the book. Afterward, I switch to Sigil (a multi-platform EPUB ebook editor), which allows me to access the HTML/CSS code to tweak it as needed.
Please note that the fonts are not included in the deliverables. The source files (InDesign) are also not included in the final delivery, unless requested by the client.
8. Communication
Please note that all email response times are Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM WEST (London timezone) and exclude weekends and holidays. Calls can be scheduled with a 12-hour notice, during office hours, and dependent on my availability.
